Introduction Welcome to the new school year! I am Mrs. Figurell and this will be my third year teaching fourth grade at Silver Lake. Prior to teaching I spent ten years in the banking world. During that time I had several roles ranging from customer service to management, and yes of course, to teaching others the skills they need to do their job. This led me back to school to pursue my Masters degree in education at Wilmington University. I was fortunate enough to complete my student teaching at Silver Lake and began teaching fourth grade the fall after my graduation. I am a native to Delaware (I grew up in North Wilmington) and attended the University of Delaware for my undergraduate degree. I moved to Middletown about eight and a half years ago so that when my husband and I started a family our children would attend school in the Appoquinimink School District. Well, that has come to happen. We now have two children and both will attend schools in the district this year. Our oldest child is six and will start at Silver Lake in first grade this year. Our youngest child is three and will start at Cedar Lane Early Childhood Center in their preschool program. I am very excited to be part of this quickly growing district and even more excited to be part of the family at Silver Lake Elementary! I look forward to getting to know all the children and their families that will be part of our classroom community this year.
